With that, Curtis ran to the door, and together, we rammed it open. It squeaked quietly as I stepped out into the dark night. Leaves rustled, and my heart thumped out of my chest. It was a dark night in a big city. With a wave goodbye, I slipped into a small crowd marching along the sidewalk. I made a mistake.
