A Day In The Life
African American Boy c) Yes
These are just a few of the many popular games enjoyed by slave children. They also liked to wrestle, jump rope, and explore the countryside around them.

Did slave children read and write? What kind of education would you receive?

a) None, because you had to work. There was no time for school.

b) Home schooling by parents or a neighbor, or attending a one-room school house.

c) Attending classes at a freedman’s school.

d) Enough reading and writing, with some language, dancing, and drawing to be “cultivated.”
