Irish Immigrant Boy a) Yes
For young boys without much money, fun had to be kept simple. Time away from work could be spent in the company of family or friends. Not until you were a few years older would you be likely to attend a dance hall or a theater to watch a vaudeville show which at that time was popular among members of the working class. Nor could you have taken advantage of such attractions as Central Park, which opened to the public in 1858. Designed to be used by the working class, Central Park was too far north and too far away from inexpensive public transportation to be accessible to them.

What about school? Where would you go?

a) To a one-room school house.

b) There would be no time for school.

c) To a public school.

d) To missionary school.
