An interview with Max Morath

In rural areas, and in small towns, most people used kerosene or whale-oil lamps, or candles. In cities, people lit their homes with natural gas flames. Newer towns, or areas that had been rebuilt after a fire, for example, were electrified. Electricity was coming on strong.
