What you need for this ZOOMdo:
  • one long skinny balloon for each animal you want to make (You can buy these balloons at a craft or party store.)
  • a ball or bike pump to blow up the balloon, or someone at your house who is really good at blowing up balloons

What you do for this ZOOMdo:

  1. Balloon Dog:
  2. First, blow up the balloon. Leave about two inches at the end uninflated. Tie the other end of the balloon.
  3. Put your hands next to each other near the knot and turn them in opposite directions. Twist one medium bubble and two small bubbles. Hold onto the twists so they don't untwist. This may take some practice before you get good at it.
  4. Twist the two small bubbles together. To do this, put them next to each other and twist their bottoms together so they're connected. Now you should have the dog's head and ears. The knot is its nose.
  5. Then, twist a small bubble and two medium bubbles. Put the two medium bubbles together so they're next to each other and twist the bottoms together. Now you have the dog's neck and her two front legs.
  6. At the end of the balloon, make a small bubble and then two more medium bubbles. Put the two medium bubbles together so they're next to each other and twist the bottoms together. Now you have your dog's two back legs and her tail.
  7. Using a marker, add eyes, mouth, and a collar.
  8. Balloon Giraffe:
  9. First, blow up the balloon. Leave about two inches at the end uninflated. Tie the other end of the balloon.
  10. Put your hands next to each other near the knot and turn them in opposite directions. Twist one medium bubble and two small bubbles. Hold onto the twists so they don't untwist. This may take some practice before you get good at it.
  11. Twist the two small bubbles together. To do this, put them next to each other and twist their bottoms together so they're connected. Now you should have the giraffe's head and ears. The knot is its nose.
  12. Now, twist one really long bubble for the giraffe's neck, and two large bubbles for the giraffe's two front legs. Put the two large bubbles together so they're next to each other and twist the bottoms together. Now you have the giraffe's head, neck, and two front legs.
  13. At the other end of the balloon, make a small bubble and two large bubbles. Put the two large bubbles together so they're next to each other and twist the bottoms together. Now you have the giraffe's two back legs and her tail.
  14. Using a marker, add eyes and a mouth to your giraffe.
  15. Balloon Bumblebee:
  16. First, blow up the balloon. Leave about two inches at the end uninflated. Tie the other end of the balloon.
  17. Put your hands next to each other near the knot and turn them in opposite directions. Twist one small bubble and one large bubble. Hold onto the twists so they don't untwist. This may take some practice before you get good at it.
  18. Twist the two bubbles together. To do this, put them next to each other and twist their bottoms together so they're connected. Now you should have the bee's head and one of its wings.
  19. Now twist another large bubble. This will be the bee's other wing. Twist this large bubble together with the small bubble that is the bee's head. Now your bee has two wings. The leftover balloon is the bee's body and its stinger.
  20. Using a marker, add eyes and stripes to your bumblebee.
