SETTING: Jack's house, the top of the beanstalk, and the Giant's castle. This play can be performed in English or in Ubbi Dubbi. Use the Ubbi Dubbi Translator to translate it.
(SCENE 1: JACK'S HOUSE)
Narrator:
Welcome to Ubbi Dubbi Fairy Tales. In our last episode of Jack and the Beanstalk, we saw Jack trade his cow for some magic beans. Let's see what happens when he brings the beans home to his mother.
(Jack hands his mother the beans.)
Jack:
Look, mom, magic beans!
Mother:
Beans?! You traded our cows for beans?
Jack:
But Mom, they're magic beans!
Mother:
Boo hoo!
(Mother takes beans and throws them out the window. She storms off. Jack lies in his bed and cries. Meanwhile, the beans shoot up, growing into a beanstalk. When Jack wakes up, he sees the beanstalk outside of his window.)
Jack:
What's this? Let's see...
(Jack runs outside and looks at the beanstalk.) (SCENE 2: THE BEANSTALK) (Jack mimes climbing the beanstalk, past birds and clouds.)
Narrator:
Jack climbed the beanstalk up, up into the sky.
(SCENE 3: THE TOP OF THE BEANSTALK) (Jack reaches the top and sees the castle.)
Jack:
Wow, a castle!
(SCENE 4: THE GIANT'S CASTLE) (Giant is sitting at a table with the Harp standing on the table playing music. Jack enters.)
Giant:
What beautiful music.
(Jack hides behind a giant salt shaker.)
Jack:
Look at that! Wow! I want that magic harp!
(The Giant gets up and begins to sniff around.)
Giant:
FEE FI FO FUM! I smell the blood of an Englishman!
(Giant looks in the wrong direction. Jack grabs the Harp, and runs off with it, losing his hat as he does.)
Giant:
Come back!
(Giant runs after Jack, with miniature version of Jack's hat in hand.) (SCENE 5: DOWN THE BEANSTALK) (Jack climbs down the beanstalk and the Harp follows.)
Giant (from offstage):
Wait!
Jack (to Harp):
Hurry!
(SCENE 6: JACK'S HOUSE)
Jack:
Mom, look at this harp! But, quick, I need an ax!
(Giant's face appears in window before Jack can leave the house to chop down the beanstalk.)
Jack:
Oh, no! It's too late!
Mother:
Please don't eat us!
Giant:
I don't want to eat you. You just forgot your hat!
(Jack and Mother look at each other and at the audience in amazement. Giant holds up the tiny version of Jack's hat. Giant acts like he throws it to Jack, who then holds up his own regular-sized hat.)
Jack:
Thanks!
Narrator:
And Jack and his mom lived happily ever after, with the Giant and the Harp as their new neighbors and friends.
(Scene ends with Jack and Mother listening to Harp playing music. Giant appears in the window, smiling.) |
