As you know, NOGGIN is like preschool on TV. And just as they do in preschool, we like to find something special to celebrate. Each month NOGGIN will be celebrating and exploring a different theme. In schools, you'll often find teachers using thematic curriculum to teach a wide range of skills and subjects. For example, a thematic curriculum on dinosaurs would use children's inherent fascination with these prehistoric creatures to learn about them - and along the way build vocabulary, literacy skills, math skills, and learn science, social studies and more. Art and music, even kinesthetic play would incorporate dinosaurs. This month we're celebrating wintertime, in all its wooly, white and wintry wonder. We encourage you to join your preschooler in exploring the winter season through song, literature, poetry, art and hands-on science activities. So Moose A. Moose says, "Get out your mittens - and your magnifying glasses -- and join NOGGIN in welcoming winter! |
