What’s the target age for the series?
IT’S A BIG BIG WORLD is designed for kids ages three through six but we expect to entertain their caregivers, too!
How does the show address science?
Through IT’S A BIG BIG WORLD, we want to demonstrate to kids that science is not just a bunch of
facts it’s a process of discovery. The series is filled with great facts, but they are set up in a way that will encourage kids to ask questions and explore ideas.
Why is the program set in a rainforest?
Kids learn about the rainforest in school so using that setting is a natural, positive way for kids to understand and talk about the world. It is also an environment in which topics such as diversity and community can be addressed with related issues such as tolerance and safety.
How was the show produced – is it puppetry or animation?
It is both! IT’S A BIG BIG WORLD was produced with a technique called “Shadowmation.” It is a patented process that combines computer generated sets and an ancient form of Japanese puppetry called ‘‘bun raku.” This unique technique has received world-wide attention and acclaim and was developed by the series creator, Mitchell Kriegman.
