Summary: Smooch and Winslow ask Snook for help finding their new friend Wartz, who seems to be missing. Snook leads the two monkeys throughout the tree, visiting Burdette, Bob the Anteater, Oko, and even Ick at his water hole at the foot of the tree, but they can’t find Wartz anywhere. Their search finally leads them to Madge, the wise old she-turtle, who explains to them that their friend Wartz, who used to be a tadpole, has gone through a metamorphosis – he’s now a tree frog. Sure enough, Wartz arrives, ready to stretch his new legs and hop off to play with his monkey friends.
Curriculum Idea: Metamorphosis – Some animals or plants change their forms and can be hard to recognize in their new forms.

Summary: While Snook spends time following a butterfly, seeing what things look like from her point of view, Bob decides that if he tries to understand the world from the ants’ perspective, they might like him better. After dressing up in antennas and extra legs, trying to lift heavy things, and crawling all over the tree, Bob is disappointed and thinks he hasn’t gotten to know the ants any better. But when he receives a package from the ants, what is inside really helps him see things from their point of view.
Curriculum Idea: Perspective – What we see influences what we know and care about. Many animals see the world in different ways than we do, and seeing the world the way that other creatures do can help us to understand that creature.

Summary: Fed up living with her messy brother, Smooch is determined to find another home in the World Tree suitable for a marmoset. Snook helps her explore all of the different habitats in the tree, but she can’t find another one that is a good fit for her. After receiving a message from Winslow, Smooch realizes that sometimes there’s no place like home, especially with a brother who missed you (even if he won’t ever admit it).
Curriculum Idea: Perspective – What we see influences what we know and care about. Many animals see the world in different ways than we do, and seeing the world the way that other creatures do can help us to understand that creature.

Summary: Things are not in balance in Snook’s house. His stomach is feeling the effects of too many chocolate covered eucalyptus leaves and his table is wobbling on uneven legs. Meanwhile, Wartz is upset that he can’t balance on the seesaw with Smooch and Winslow. But, after a Tai Chi lesson and some wise words from Oko, and an explanation about how balanced amphibians are from Madge, Wartz discovers that he has his own special kind of balance and even finds a way (with Snook’s help) to seesaw with his friends.
Curriculum Idea: Balance – Things can be balanced or unbalanced. Balance is relative – we talk about the balance between things. Balance and imbalance can cause certain things to happen.

Summary: Ick is acting strange. He keeps telling everyone who will listen that Burdette should leave the World Tree. When no one agrees with him, he declares he wants to be left alone. Eventually, Ick realizes how lonely it is by himself and confesses to Smooch and Winslow that he wants Burdette to leave because he heard that birds eat fish and he is afraid of being eaten. Finally aware of the problem, Burdette explains to Ick that different birds have different diets and since she only eats nuts and seeds, he does not need to worry about being her next meal.
Curriculum Idea: Animal diets – Different animals have different diets.

Summary: After learning that each nest of ants has a Queen, Burdette decides the World Tree would also benefit from having a Queen – her! She starts to rule immediately, bossing around Smooch, Winslow, Ick, Bob, and Wartz as her “royal subjects.” But when Madge tells everyone a bit more about the role of the Queen ant, Burdette realizes that being Queen is a lot of work, and might not be right for her after all.
Curriculum Idea: Communities – Some insects and animals have organized communities and different communities function in different ways.

Summary: Wartz has decided that from now on, he is going to be a monkey. Smooch and Winslow are excited to have him join them in their monkey ways, but Wartz runs into problems when he doesn’t like their banana and tree sap breakfast and can’t keep up as they swing around the World Tree. As a sad Wartz accepts that he can’t become a monkey, Snook reminds the little frog that there are some very cool things about being an amphibian, and Smooch and Winslow arrive just in time to ask Wartz for some help. Since they’ve showed him what it’s like to be a monkey, can he show them what it’s like to be a tree frog?
Curriculum Idea: Same/Different Animal Characteristics – We are all different in our own special way and have different abilities and ways of doing things.
