The one thing that I enjoy most about playing baseball is being outside during the summer playing the sport I love. Chances are, the weather is always hot, which makes it even more enjoyable. Also, when I arrive at the park and step in between the fences, it’s like everything else around (school, home life, any problems I have) just doesn't exist for the 2½ hours that I'm there.
My parents put me into tee-ball when I was about 4, and ever since then I just kept getting better and better. My father also played when he was growing up so he kind of has been my main coach away from the field, which has proven to be a great help.
What keeps me motivated is that one day I could actually make it. I've heard countless stories about baseball players who are now in the majors playing ball every day and constantly working on the fundamentals and improving. I hear these stories and think that I'm that same guy who works hard every day on just trying to improve the smallest little details. It's a dream that is reachable with hard work and I'm willing to make that effort.
In the next five years I would like to be selected to Team Canada Juniors, and I would also like to earn a scholarship to a school in the United States or Canada. The ultimate goal is to make it to the major leagues.
My advice to other ballplayers would be to give it a little time in the beginning. It takes a lot of practice to become good at and it will never come without hard work and a lot of devotion. Also, to be prepared to fail 70% of the time; even if you do this, you're still doing pretty darn good.
