Guide
to Online Activities
Friends:
Hanging out with… There’s
nothing more fun than “hanging out” with Maya,
Miguel, their friends and Paco, the family parrot, in this
lively animated space.
With a simple click, your child can
get to know the show characters in their favorite environments.
But that’s not all! The characters will invite your
child to ask them important questions about themselves and
their interests. Selected messages and character replies
will be posted on a regular basis, so don’t forget
to return to this activity often. Each character page will
also include links to other Maya & Miguel games,
activities and printables, encouraging your child to continue
exploring and learning with these entertaining friends.
The “Friends”
area supports these important learning objectives:
- to encourage English and Spanish
language acquisition
- to appreciate and respect others
- to connect with characters’
experiences
- to support bilingual vocabulary
- to promote an appreciation of
cultural diversity
Extend your child’s
“Friends” learning experience by using these
ideas:
- encourage your child to discover
other world cultures by reading: Let's Go! by
Karin Luisa Badt (Ages 8-12)
- assist your child in writing
a short biography about a special friend
- help your child make a personal
“character page” by listing his/her own likes
and dislikes, favorite books, songs, games and clothes,
and including a self-portrait or photo
