Born restless and curious, Connie the Cow lives on a farm with her nurturing mother Mollie and her father Bill, a strong, yet calm and reassuring bull. As she marvels at her new world, Connie cannot resist poking her nose into everything. Every day, Connie makes new friends and discovers something new about the world on the farm where she lives.
Connie is joined by other animal friends including Patch, the playful puppy; Wally, the fat bird and Grouch, the grumpy fox. Each character adds knowledge about the world and the wisdom of their own species.
CONNIE THE COW delivers connected learning by weaving animated stories together with interactive games. Connie and her friends invite preschoolers to practice skills of observation and visual and auditory discrimination -- skills that are essential to children's understanding of science concepts.
- To facilitate children's awareness of how they can use their senses to make observations and draw conclusions, providing opportunities for them to gain observation skills through learning to listen and to look, increasing their ability to attend, focusing on specific details, and naming and describing the things they observe.
- To encourage development of classification skills, providing opportunities for children to compare and contrast objects, notice what's the same and what's different, and to classify according to specified properties.
- To provide opportunities to make discoveries about the characteristics of animals, to distinguish between living and nonliving things, and to develop children's awareness of the diversity of living things.
