A New Cell Phone for Kids Is Off-the-Hook!

Cell phones are everywhere these days and it seems everybody wants one. I know I do! But, if you're a kid whose parents say you're not old enough, I've got some good news. One company has designed a new phone just for you!

The company, called Kajeet, has developed a cell phone for 8 to 12 year olds that is kid and parent friendly. It's a pay-as-you-go service so parents can limit how much time is spent on the phone.

Kajeet has some neat features that make it different from phones made for adults. Parents put money into the phone account, but it's the kid that chooses how to spend it. The company hopes to teach kids a good lesson in spending money. If you spend your entire monthly allowance on games, you won't be able to call your friends! But, even if all the money is gone, you can always call 911 or your parents.

Parents do get to keep some control, though. They can set the hours that calls can be made and even who can call their child. There's even talk of installing location tracking software so you and your parents can stay in even closer contact.

I'm Isaac and that's what happened in Tech this week!

What do you think? Should kids be allowed to have their own cell phones? Tell us by voting in this week's Call Out!
