For Queen and Country! England's Prince Harry to Serve in Iraq
Britain's Prince Harry is going to Iraq to serve as an officer in the army. The 22-year-old is third in line to the British throne, after his father Charles and his older brother William.
It's a dangerous mission, but he insisted on normal treatment despite his royal blood. He will serve as troop commander for a unit of armored reconnaissance vehicles.
Harry who graduated from a British military academy will be the first Royal to serve in combat in 25 years. He stated, "There is no way I am going to put myself through the Academy and then sit back home while my boys are out fighting for their country." He is certainly brave, but because of his fame he may become a prime target for insurgents.
This news comes a day after his country announced that it will begin withdrawing troops from Iraq within the coming months. This is the opposite of the U.S., which is sending more and more troops. The British feel the Iraqis themselves should take more responsibility for their own security in the area where their troops have been stationed.
Prince Harry is the second son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Diana died in a car crash in 1997.
I'm Michelle and that's what happened in the world this week.
What do you think? Is it ok for Prince Harry to go to Iraq? Let us know in this week's Call Out!
