They're #1
The NCAA Men's College Basketball tournament is set for its Final Four weekend. And the biggest surprise was that there was no surprise at all! For the first time in the history of the tournament, the four top teams survived all the early rounds. The #1 college teams that made it all the way are the UCLA Bruins, the North Carolina Tarheels, the Kansas Jayhawks and the Memphis Tigers.
The semifinals are on Saturday. North Carolina, which won it all three years ago, will face Kansas as that team tries to win for the first time in 20 years. Kansas nearly lost its last game to underdog Davidson College but hung on for a close win. In the other match up, UCLA is returning to the Final Four for the third year in a row to face Memphis. UCLA has won 11 basketball championships -- more than any other college. Memphis will be shooting for its first title ever. The two winners on Saturday will square off in the championship game on Monday night.
The college women are also playing this weekend to see who will follow last year's winners -- the Lady Vols of Tennessee -- to the top. Among the teams that have had great success in this years tourney are Tennessee, UConn and Maryland.
