Schools Tackle iCheating

Lately, kids are using technology, like MP3 players and cell phones, to help answer hard questions. The problem is that the answers are for tests! Kids were caught sneaking notes into playlists and text messaging each other answers during tests.

To stop this sort of cheating, some schools don't allow digital devices inside. Still, there are kids who sneak them in! These kids risk detention, failed grades, and suspension! Also, what they might not understand is that even if they pass the test, they're not learning what they need to know.

Some educators see an upside to the story. Sure, audio devices like iPods and Zunes can be used to cheat, but used correctly they can aid learning. Educational podcasts, photos, and audiobooks can be used to help students study on the go.

That's what teachers at Duke University are trying. Instead of banning the devices, they are giving their students iPods to help them learn. They believe that if they teach students why cheating is wrong, that will do more to prevent cheating.

We'll have to see which method is the best answer!

I'm Isaac and that's what happened in arts and tech this week!

Let's play Just the Facts and find out how much you know! And no cheating! Haha!
