Warriors are Golden in the NBA Playoffs
Everyone loves an underdog and the Golden State Warriors were definitely underdogs. At least until last week, when they beat the Dallas Mavericks in a HUGE upset! They became the first No. 8 seed to beat a No. 1 seed in an NBA best-of-seven playoff series. Cool!
The Warriors won with help from Stephen Jackson. The fiery Jackson has a history of fighting with fans, and even got into trouble for firing a gun one night. Since the playoffs began, he has tried to avoid trouble and stayed focused. Jackson scored 33 points, helping the Warriors clinch the series in game six.
Another Golden State player who stood out in that game was Baron Davis. He hurt his leg early on and played with a limp. And he still scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds! Awesome!
But maybe their best accomplishment of the night was holding the Mavericks' star-player Dirk Nowitzki to only eight points.
Fans of the Golden State Warriors were thrilled when the game ended 111-86. Many of them supported the team by wearing yellow t-shirts with the word "Believe."
The Warriors and their fans celebrated but now it's back to business. They're battling another surprise team - the Utah Jazz who upset the Houston Rockets in a tough seven game series.
