The Sky's The Limit
Imagine blasting into space with the click of your mouse. With Google Sky, a new Google Earth feature launched last week, you can explore 100 million stars and 200 million galaxies right through your computer. Google Earth lets you fly around the planet, zooming in to see countries, cities and even specific blocks from space. The Google Sky add-on lets you to do the same with the night sky, letting you look up at planets and beyond!
Google Sky information is organized into layers. One layer shows over 100 high quality pictures from the very powerful Hubble Space telescope which orbits the earth. Constellations, formations of stars that appear to make a shape, such as Taurus the bull, are labeled and explained. A user's guide to galaxies provides a virtual tour through different galaxies such as the Milky Way and Ursa Minor Dwarf. "Life of a Star" explores the various stages of a star's life. And "Backyard Astronomy" explains all the different objects you can see with the naked eye or small telescopes.
I'm Isaac and that's what happened in technology this week!
Do you like to stargaze? Let me know in my Call Out!
