Geeks Get Ready to Go Ga-Ga for Gadgets
For three days in January, Las Vegas will become the center of the world for electronics lovers. That's because it will host the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show!
CES is a 40-year-old mega-convention that's THE place to find out what's on the cutting edge of consumer technology. Exhibitors from all around the world will display some of the coolest gizmos on the planet! More than 140,000 people are expected to attend the four-day event.
Here's a sample of what they might see: a robotic gutter cleaner; a GPS cell phone that can remotely open doors and start a person's car; a complete cockpit simulator; and guest appearances by Jerry Seinfeld and Mary J. Blige! But because companies are so secretive about their biggest and best inventions, the really good stuff is still a mystery!
To give you an idea of the kind of tech we could see, let me tell you what appeared there in past years. In 1970, the first VCR was presented. In 1981, the camcorder and CD player were revealed. HD TV appeared there in 1998 and in 2001, Microsoft's Xbox was shown off.
So if you're into electronic tech like I am, be sure to check out the convention in January. It's certain to blow more than a few circuits!
I'm Isaac and that's what happened in Tech this week!
Play this week's Match Game and figure out which tech invention appeared when!
