A Day In The Life Header
Frontier Girl a) Yes
Despite living in a small house, there were always plenty of daily chores that needed to be done. As soon as children were able, they were expected to help out around the house and farm with a variety of tasks. And it didn’t make any difference if you were a girl or a boy. If you were strong and sturdy, you were expected to help mend a fence, milk a cow, sew a button, and cook. But life on the prairie, though hard, wasn’t always dreary.

What would you do for fun?

a) Playwith dolls, embroider, have tea parties.

b) Play “Moccasin,” ride wood stick horses, play ball.

c) Shoot marbles, play “auction,” and “switching.”

d) Play with a doll house made of buffalo bones with corncob dolls, and make hats of leaves and dried sunflowers.
