Can you announce my child's name or say happy birthday on the show or Web site?

Sorry! We wish we could. Because there is so much great ZOOMy stuff to cram into a dinky half hour, we can only announce the names of kids whose ideas have been selected for that particular show. We also get thousands of requests like this every year, and rather than select only a few kids, we make it a policy to not do it at all.

How do I know if you've received a child's comment?

If the child received a thank-you message and a downloadable ZOOMerang when he or she submitted a comment to the site, then we got it! If she or he didn't receive these things, the child should try resubmitting. Be sure he or she enters all the required information on the form, and doesn't forget to click the Send It button.

How do I find out if you posted a child's idea?

If a child's submission makes it to the site, his or her name will be posted in that week's Limelight. In general, it takes about two weeks for submissions to appear on the site.

How do I find an activity if I can't remember its name?

We suggest you try using our ZOOMy Search engine located at the top right corner of every page on this site! If you can remember any key words from the activity - one or two materials that were used, for example - type those words in. You'll narrow down your search to only those activities containing those materials.

Why do I sometimes see typos in the site?

While we use proper punctuation, spelling and grammar in the materials we produce, we've chosen not to correct these elements in the submissions we receive from kids. For many of the same reasons that the ZOOMers use vernacular on the show, we edit the letters we receive only in cases where clarity would otherwise be lost. We believe this virtually edit-free approach allows each ZOOMer's unique voice to show through his or her written expression. This is one facet of a rich environment that reflects the mission of both the ZOOM show and the Web site: to create a space that is truly for kids and by kids.
