Since it aired in 1969 with lovable Muppets, memorable songs, and endearing characters, the award-winning Sesame Street has been the most widely viewed preschool television series in the world. Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie are just some of the household names that have educated and entertained millions of viewers in 37 countries and 19 international co-productions. After more than 30 years, Sesame Street continues to deliver a solid academic and social education that parents trust and children love.
Sesame Street is an educational program for pre-schoolers, designed to help children make a successful transition from home to school. Every segment is written with a specific learning goal, teaching basic cognitive and social skills. The series' curriculum has become more complex over the years in response to changes in the world and the growing sophistication of children in the TV era. Based on ongoing research, curriculum goals have evolved to include pre-reading, pre-writing, and pre-science fundamentals, geography, environmental awareness, social interaction, family relationships and human and cultural diversity.
