113 Windy Night / So Long Planty
 
Windy Night
Summary: A storm is approaching the World Tree. Snook gathers the young frightened residents for a sleepover in Madge’s root cellar home where the wise old turtle dispels their misconceptions and teaches them some facts about storms.

Curriculum Idea: Weather – The weather affects us all and different animals have different ways of dealing with it. We can’t control the weather but we can notice patterns in the weather that help us know what might happen next.

So Long, Planty

So Long Planty
 
Summary: Smooch takes her plant, Planty, out from under the box where she had been keeping it and finds that it is all dry and shriveled up.   After learning that plants need sun and water to grow, and how she should have been caring for Planty, she says goodbye to her plant and leaves it on the rainforest ground.   A few weeks later, she is surprised to find lots of little plants have grown in the ground Planty's seed pod had fallen.

Curriculum Idea: Plants – Plants are living things that need light and water to grow and be healthy.

Hold On Rainbow

114 Hold On Rainbow / Where Have All the Berries Gone?
 
Hold On Rainbow
Summary: Wartz sees a beautiful rainbow and, over Snook’s objections, embarks on a quest to catch it. When he encounters Oko, who is painting the rainbow, Oko helps him finally understand that rainbows can’t be caught. But, after Oko gives Wartz his painting, Wartz goes home with a rainbow after all!

Curriculum Idea: Rainbows – Rainbows always have the same pattern of colors and occur under certain weather conditions.


Where Have All the Berries Gone?

Where Have All the Berries Gone?
 
Summary: After some serious vine swinging, Winslow has worked up quite an appetite and goes off in search of his favorite kind of berries. But when he arrives at the berry bush, the only berries that are left are a few rotting on the ground. So he, Smooch, and Snook head off on an investigation to find out what happened to the berries. After picking up a few clues, Winslow learns from Madge that the berries are out of season, but, luckily, Madge has made some preserves for everyone to enjoy all year round!

Curriculum Idea: Plants and Seasons – Some plants produce fruit and sometimes this fruit only appears at certain times of year.

Sappy Monkey

115 Sappy Monkey / Growing Pains
 
Sappy Monkey
Summary: Winslow is excited because it is the first day of sap season, but he’s overdoing it, eating the sweet stuff by the bowlful. Smooch enlists Snook’s help to find her brother and warn him about overeating, and along the way they find out how their friends keep a healthy, balanced diet. When Winslow finally comes home, he is feeling the effects of eating too much sap and now understands why it is important to listen to your stomach and eat in moderation.

Curriculum Idea: Healthy Eating – Eating foods that are right for us and in the right amounts and patterns helps us to have energy and feel healthy.

Growing Pains

Growing Pains
 
Summary: Smooch is planting a garden and wants to keep everyone out. She removes a worm she finds there and gets upset when she sees Burdette and Wartz poking around her plants. But after a conversation with Snook about the benefits of worms in gardens, and talking to Burdette and Wartz about what they were really doing, she learns that different animals can help her garden grow.

Curriculum Idea: Gardening – Gardens require planning and care, and certain animals can help the growth of plants in a garden.

The Big Sneeze

116 The Big Sneeze / Go to Sleep Wartz
 
The Big Sneeze
Summary: When Burdette brings Bob a bouquet of some beautiful flowers she found in the forest, Bob starts sneezing and can’t stop! Each time he meets someone in the tree, all of whom have gotten similar flowers from Burdette, the sneezes come back. Finally, Bob visits Madge and learns that he is allergic to the flowers. Luckily, he realizes that he can still use the flowers – they make a great present for the ants.

Curriculum Idea: Allergies – Some people are allergic to different things, including plants and animals, and may have physical reactions to those things. Something that provokes an allergic reaction in one person may not bother someone else.


Go to Sleep Wartz

Go to Sleep Wartz
 
Summary: Wartz has so much fun playing with his marmoset friends that he decides he wants to play all the time and never sleep again. Snook isn’t so sure about this, however, and brings the little frog to visit different animals in the tree, learning how each one gets their rest. Wartz is still convinced that he is one frog that doesn’t need to sleep, but when he and Snook sit down at the end of the day, Wartz finds out that the nighttime sounds of the forest are a perfect lullaby, and drifts off to a long-overdue slumber.

Curriculum Idea: Sleep – Different animals sleep at different times, and in different ways. Sleep keeps us feeling healthy.
