Raloo & Tara

In the serene Irish countryside of long ago, on a small farm in a peaceful village, it's amazing what escapades a young pig and his friends can get up to! Raloo Farm is home to the Winks family, and the secure base from which eight-year-old Piggley Winks launches his voyages of imagination.

The farm's big wooden barn and its haylofts are the perfect setting for playing explorers or following a treasure map designed by Mr. Winks (who manages to get the trio to do a few chores in the bargain). Mrs. Winks' kitchen sets the stage for a lesson in honesty when Piggley, Ferny and Dannan can't resist eating a just-baked apple pie. The fields and streams house fantastical creatures, real and imaginary. Even a flock of seemingly docile sheep can demonstrate some pretty wacky behavior-especially when led by Wiley, the American transplant with a baa-ad attitude.

The neighbors, shopkeepers, schoolteachers and fellow students in the picturesque village of Tara play important roles in the Lives of Piggley and company. Whether they're dispensing helpful advice, enlisting the trio's help in looking for a lost cat, or-in the case of Hector, the school bully-providing an example of how not to behave, the villagers help shape Piggley's world, and supply the memories he'll carry with him for decades to come.
