Candidates Set Sights on Super Tuesday
Super Tuesday is coming soon! On February 5th, primaries and caucuses will be held in almost half the states in the country. When the results are in, we'll be a lot closer to finding out who will run for president of the United States in the general election.
Right now, the competition is really fierce. Among the Democratic candidates, senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are practically tied, thanks to Obama winning the South Carolina primary last Saturday. Obama gave a speech that inspired a lot of people to hope that the future would be brighter if he were president. Hillary Clinton wants voters to think about her experience when they vote. She says that her years in government make her the best person for the Democratic candidacy. John Edwards is in third place among the Democrats but is still running hard.
Among the Republicans, the race is very close between Arizona senator John McCain and former Massachusetts's governor Mitt Romney. Senator McCain believes that his life experience as a Vietnam veteran and as a senator make him the best choice. Mitt Romney says he knows more about the economy. Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani are also still in the race. Come Tuesday we'll see which candidates the voters in the country like the most.
I'm Ben and that's what happened in our nation this week.
