Sunshine is Golden

It's not quite a beauty pageant, but Abigail Breslin will soon be walking down the red carpet in Hollywood, California. The talented 10-year-old actress has been nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE.

In the film, Abigail plays Olive, a little girl who dreams of being a beauty queen. The Hoovers, her oddball family, hop into their yellow VW van and drive her out to California to compete in the Little Miss Sunshine contest.

The oddball comedy has been nominated for four Oscars, including Abigail's for Best Supporting Actress. This makes her the fourth youngest actress ever to be nominated. At 10 years and three months, Tatum O'Neal was the youngest to win the Best Supporting Actress award in the movie PAPER MOON.

Abigail, whose big brother Spencer is also an actor, may be young but she has plenty of experience. She started appearing in television commercials when she was only three years old. Her big break in the movies came when she appeared in the film SIGNS at the age of five. Abigail has already won several awards for best "young performer" or "young actress" for her role as Olive. But if she is lucky enough to take home an Oscar it will be the biggest win of all!

I'm Isaac and that's what happened in arts and tech this week.
