Kobe Bryant Makes History with Nothing but Net!
Kobe Bryant has gone on a record-setting scoring binge. The Los Angeles Lakers star scored 50 or more points in four games in a row. His incredible feat is second only to Wilt "the Stilt" Chamberlain who once did it in seven straight games. Kobe has now totaled 50 or more points 18 times in his career. The only players to have done it more often are Wilt and Michael Jordan.
Kobe began by pouring in 65 points against the Portland Trail Blazers. He followed by scoring 50, 60 and 50 in his team's next three games. The streak stopped when Kobe was held to "only" 43 points against the Golden State Warriors.
Kobe's streak was a great personal achievement but it meant just as much to his team. Before the streak started, the Lakers had lost seven straight games. With Kobe firing away, the Lakers won five straight games. Now with only two weeks left in the regular season the Lakers are on track to finish second in their division and make the playoffs.
Thanks to his recent spree, Kobe is leading the NBA in scoring and is now a top candidate for the league's Most Valuable Player Award. And he is showing no signs of slowing down. Just the other night, Kobe did it again. He pumped in 53 points against the Houston Rockets!
