Softball Team Stun With Act of Sportswomanship
How far would you go to help an opponent score against you? How about carrying her all the way home? That's what happened in a women's college softball game in the state of Washington.
The Western Oregon Wolves were playing the Central Washington Wildcats in women's college baseball. Sasha Tucholsky, a senior for Western Oregon, knocked the ball out of the park. It was her first home run ever. There were two players on base, so the hit was worth three runs. Sasha was so surprised that she ran toward first base in a daze.
In fact, she passed first without touching the base. When she reached back to step on the base everything went wrong for Sasha. She twisted her knee and collapsed on the ground with a torn ligament. There was no way she could keep going on her own. If her teammates helped her, then the rules said that she'd lose the home run. Two runs would count, but that was it. That's when the other team decided to pitch in. Two of the women from Central Washington carried Sasha all the way around diamond stopping at each base so that she could touch it. Her team went on to win the game, 4-2. It was an amazing act of sportswomanship from the players of Central Washington.
I'm Lucy and that's what happened in Sports this week!
