Cartoon Fans Bring their Favorite Characters to Life
Where can you find a robot, a ninja, and a French maid all in one place? At a con, of course! Con is short for convention, which is a huge gathering of fans. At these cons, you'll find thousands of people who share a love of Japanese animation, or anime. Some famous anime are shows like Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and Yu-Gi-Oh!
At Sakuracon in Seattle, Washington, over 11,000 kids AND adults showed up to play games and cosplay. Cosplay means costume play. It involves dressing up like your favorite anime characters.
Some people spend hundreds of hours making their costumes just right. They build plastic armor to look like giant robots or wear furry tails to look like fox spirits. Whatever characters you like, everyone is welcome!
Another popular convention is in Atlanta, Georgia. It's called Dragon Con. Each year, fans meet science fiction authors, watch movies, and play games. They talk about the latest anime from Japan, and of course, they cosplay.
So if you're a big fan of anime or would like Halloween to be celebrated every day, then check out your local anime con!
I'm Isaac and that's what happened in the arts this week!
Let's play the Match game to find out if you know which anime is which!
