"Pirates" Captured Teen Treasure

"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" captured considerable treasure at this year's Teen Choice Awards. Millions of teens voted electronically and gave awards to the swashbuckling movie and its cast. Hosts Hillary Duff and Nick Cannon had life-size Teen Choice surf board trophies for Pirates' stars Johnny Depp, Keira Knightly and Bill Nighy, who won in the Action Adventure and Villain categories.

Over eight million people voted online in over 30 categories for awards announced in a Universal Studios ceremony. They gave "High School Musical 2"the TV Movie award and selected Zac Efron as Male Hottie. His co-star Vanessa Hudgens was named this year's female music breakout artist for her debut album. Musical guests singing at the event included Kelly Clarkson and Shop Boyz. Avril Lavigne, who won for her single "Girlfriend", and Fergie, who was named Choice Music Female Artist, also performed. Actress Sophia Bush who appeared in the films for "John Tucker Must Die" and "The Hitcher" won three Choice movie awards. For the special honor of the Ultimate Choice award, teens selected Justin Timberlake, who has won 21 Teen Choice Awards -- more than any other star! Timberlake was on tour, but he accepted his awards via satellite, saying he was putting all those surf boards to good use.
