Spiderman Scales Chinese Mountain
Did you hear about Spiderman in China? He was seen climbing a five-thousand-foot mountain using just his bare hands. The climber, a Frenchman named Alain Robert, is nicknamed Spiderman because of his ability to scale incredible heights. Robert climbed part of a Tianmen Mountain with only his hands. He didn't use any ropes or nets to help him, or to save him if he fell. Fortunately, the French Spiderman succeeded.
The climb was his second in China. The last time he was in that country, Robert dressed up in a Spiderman costume and climbed the Jin Mao tower, the tallest building in Shanghai. He was arrested for climbing without permission and spent five days in jail. Robert is used to getting arrested for his crazy climbing stunts.
In Malaysia, the police grabbed him for attempting to climb the 88-storey Petronas Twin Towers. He also managed to scale the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Empire State Building in New York City. Robert sometimes gets permission to climb. In Borneo he climbed the building of the Sabah Foundation. Fifteen thousand people watched and Robert raised $150,000 that was donated to charity.
His philosophy is that he likes to help people and overcome fear. Maybe he's a bit of a hero who takes big chances, just like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman.
I'm Lucy and that's what happened in sports this week!
Let's play Match to see if you can place the buildings from this story in the correct country.
