Thieves Swipe Four Famous Paintings

The Swiss were talking about art last week. That's because the biggest robbery in an art museum in that country just happened. Three men in masks and dark clothes stole 164 million dollars worth of paintings. The four paintings were in Zurich, the capital of Switzerland.

The paintings were by the artists Van Gogh, Cezanne, Degas and Monet. All four are very famous. Believe it or not, the burglars didn't even take the most valuable paintings in the museum. It looks like they just took the first four they saw and escaped in a white van.

This robbery came just a week after two paintings by Picasso were stolen in a town near Zurich.

The last time an art robbery made this much news in Europe was when a famous work called "The Scream" by Van Gogh was taken from a museum in Oslo, Norway. That painting was found in 2006. The most famous art robbery of all time was in Paris, France, when the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre in 1911. It was found two years later.

The police aren't sure if the two recent robberies were related, or what the thieves plan to do with the paintings. It's hard to sell a stolen painting that's famous because everyone will know where it came from. Some people think the robbers might threaten to destroy the paintings if the don't get paid.

I'm Isaac and that's what happened in technology this week.
