A King Becomes a Queen at Women's Tennis Tournament
Teenager Vania King sings like a bird and plays tennis like a champ! Last weekend, Vania did both as the U.S tennis team beat Belgium in the Fed Cup quarterfinals last week.
Before the first match, 18-year-old Vania sang the Star Spangled Banner, our national anthem. Cool! She said she was nervous because she only sang America the Beautiful before and that the anthem is harder.
Vania didn't think she would be playing that weekend. But when Serena Williams complained about knee pain, Vania was called in last minute to replace her! Serena and her sister Venus are two of women's tennis most famous players.
Vania admitted she was really nervous! The game was only her second Fed Cup single match. She played her opponent for over two and a half hours of intense competition. Cool!
Vania won and clinched the win for the U.S. team. She said she was honored to play with such champions. Now that her big weekend is over, Vania is home where she likes to surf the Web and play video games. She's already getting bored of sitting around and is eager to compete in her next three tournaments. Good luck, Vania!
