Pats Top Colts in Super Matchup

The New England Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts 24-20 in a battle of undefeated teams last Sunday, but it was anything but easy. The defending Superbowl champion Colts led by 10 points in the fourth quarter, before quarterback Tom Brady led New England on two late touchdown drives. The Patriots defense sealed the win when they recovered a fumble by Peyton Manning as the Colts tried to rally in the final minutes of the game.

The win leaves the Patriots as the favorites to take this year's Superbowl, but they are in search of an even bigger goal. Since the Superbowl began, only one team has ever finished the season with a perfect record-the 1972 Miami Dolphins who were 17 and 0 that year. The Patriots have won nine straight games. Since the season is two games longer now, they would have to win seven more regular season games plus three in the playoffs to reach perfection.

Led by Brady and receiver Randy Moss, Patriots have been overwhelming opponents all year. The Colts were certainly the toughest challenge in their path, but they still must face and defeat playoff hungry teams like the Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Giants if they are to succeed. Can they do it? Stay tuned and find out.
