Activities have been designed to support concepts being presented. They are geared toward young children and demonstrate scientific principles that relate to their everyday world. All of the materials needed for the scientific investigations or demonstrations are common and easily accessible.
We suggest that you begin each theme asking children what they already know about the topic. i.e. What do you know about "plants"? Remember to encourage discussion and questions. With older children, make a chart and list the information the children volunteer. Do not correct misinformation at this time. Tell them that we will be revisiting our information after we learn more about plants. At the conclusion of the study, be sure to check prior information and make modifications with the children as needed.
