NASCAR Legend Changing Lanes
One of NASCAR's most popular racecar drivers is changing lanes. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is leaving his late father's company to join Rick Hendrick's team for the 2008 season. He hopes that by switching, he'll be able to win more championships. Cool!
Earnhardt joins a team of famous racers. Jimmie Johnson said that he's excited to have him on the team. But Earnhardt didn't join the team just because it had the best racers in NASCAR. He said he knows his dad would trust Rick, and that he had a great respect for each other.
The move also puts Jeff Gordon and Earnhardt on the same team. They competed against each other in the past, but Earnhardt said that there's no bad blood between them. And even though they are teammates, both drivers will be going all out to win each race.
Still the change will be hard for many of Eardhardt's loyal fans who considered Gordon the enemy. Will they be able to shift gears and root for both drivers? We'll find out next year!
